Mar 2018:
The Nature of Awe
How do you describe the feeling of watching a glorious sunset or hiking a mountain peak? Why is it about nature that elicits awe?
This Sunday we explore Awe with our guest speaker, Craig L. Anderson–a researcher broadly interested in the interplay between emotions, physiology, and social relationships.
Inspired by the power of nature to elicit awe, Craig has taken his research into the outdoors, spearheading a program of research that investigating how and why going white-water rafting boosts the psychological well-being of both military veterans and youth from underserved communities. Craig will introduce how researchers attempt to scientifically capture something so grand and transcendent as experiences of awe, and offer practical tips that you can use to cultivate awe in your own life.
To do your heart good, we'll have pop songs, readings, and socializing. Come and help us inspire each other–to live better, help often, and wonder more.
